A imprensa mundial informa: morreu, hoje (quarta, 22 de março), Elizabeth Taylor. A atriz britânica, duas vezes premiada com o Oscar, brilhou em muitos filmes. Um deles, Um lugar ao sol, de George Stevens, é o meu favorito. E de Chaplin também, conforme vim a saber mais tarde.
Bem, mas a postagem é por outro motivo. Quando pensei em verter para o cordel um clássico da literatura universal, não pensei muito e cravei A Megera Domada, de Shakespeare. Talvez o motivo principal nem tenha sido a peça em si, mas o filme de 1967, dirigido por Franco Zefirelli e estrelado por Liz Taylor e seu marido à época, Richard Burton.
Nos papéis de Petrucchio e Catarina, eles reviviam cenas muito próximas da realidade, o que rendeu atuações inesquecíveis. A cena do casamento, entre tantas, merece destaque. Foi a imagem desta cena que motivou-me a escrever estes versos para o livro A Megera Domada em Cordel:
